In our Montessori classroom, children are introduced to letters and numbers through a tactile and multisensory journey — using sandpaper letters and numbers.
These specially crafted materials allow children to feel the shape of each letter or number with their fingers, engaging both the visual and muscular memory. As they trace the textured surface while saying the sound or number aloud, they build a strong foundation for reading, writing, and mathematical understanding.
This hands-on experience not only makes learning more engaging but also respects each child’s
unique developmental rhythm. It’s one of the many ways we prepare young minds to absorb knowledge joyfully and meaningfully.
Here, learning truly begins at the fingertips!
